Hi. My name is Misty
Waters, the owner, manager, and trainer at Smoke Signals Farm, here in Central Lower Michigan. I would
like to welcome you to my site. Please feel free to contact me about
any questions, comments, or concerns that you may have about my site,
or the services that are offered here at Smoke Signals.
In the past, Smoke Signals specialized in breeding, raising, and training quality
APHA, AQHA, and Arabian horses. I have recently decided to focus my
attention more on training horses than breeding, because there are
already too many nice horses out there that haven't had an opportunity
to be trained and given "jobs" or loved by a family. Far too many are
ending up in sale barns or, worse.
I strive to produce quiet, willing, and "spook proof" family horses. My gentle
training techniques build the horse's trust, self confidence, and
encourage willingness to please. Each horse that I train at Smoke
Signals will be ridden not only in a corral, but will also gain
extensive experience on trails and roads.
I do not believe in "Cowboying" a horse or any other rough treatment and have,
on a few occassions, repaired the damage caused by these training
"techniques".
No two horses are the same and each one is treated as an individual. If I find
something that a horse does not respond positively to, I change my
techniques for that animal.
I will take the time to discuss the goals and concerns with the horse owner and do
my best to accomplish each goal in a reasonable amount of time. If you
want to watch me work your horse, that is easily arranged. I also upload
videos of some of the training sessons to
YouTube,
if you would like to see some of what I do. I will also upload videos
of your horse, if you give me permission to do so.
I currently charge $450 per 30 day period beginning in the months of May-September and $500 per 30 day period beginning in the months of October-April ($550 and $600 for stallions).
Limited openings.

**I
do not consider any horse to be "kid safe" after 30 days, but I will do
my best to have a good solid base to build on. It takes years to make a
truly "kid safe" horse, and *that* can only be accomplished with a horse
that has the potential to start with.**
